people might not agree with riviere but i think with pace around him, his hold up play might help. is cisse fir then i'd put him in. bring on perez later to add to pace when others are slowing. if tiote not fit move sisso in and put Raylor on to help cover. really did think the overall balance was great against city. and genuine options from the bench now. with perez and ameobi on the bench when obertan and aarons get tired we can bring on 2 players and still keep the pace up.

The kids really give us that flair and passion and that goes well with experience like Raylor and Coloccini. And now that pardew's giving the youth a chance it is making more competition for the first team.

433 has always been the best formation for us as it's very flexible. Would like to see this against Liverpool:
Krul, Janmaat, Saylor, Coloccini, Dummett, Sissoko, Colback, Raylor, Cabella, Perez, Ameobi
Aarons and Armstrong as impact subs.

4-4-2 is the way forward even, 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1 doesn't work for us.
Since, Manu is injured put Cabella with Cisse in front and Gabby, Colback, Tiote and Sissoko in midfield.
I still believe Pardew hasn't got the right balance yet.
Gouff, even though his form is down can't complain of his work ethic.
Need to bring Aarons, Perez and Sammy into the mix.

Thoughts on Swansea folks?

They've consistently placed the 4231 that we can't play so I'm advocating that we blitz their flanks with a solid 442.

Thinking is we can put Bigi on wing and possibly Hiadara to keep the tempo up on their WBS. Campbell can take the Support striker role.

The midfield must play higher up the field to snuff out Swansea's central play leaving the back 4 and Tiote to deal with anything passed through them.

ok so again its predictions time. Personally this is one game I don't look forward to being that I live in stoke and work with numerous stoke fans. obviously there was a time I did look forward to it as I would see it as a good chance for some points but currently against an organised stoke side I see us struggling. i'm hoping pardew with go with both cisse and riviere against stoke. playing a 4411 maybe. my heart says 2-0 to toon. with cisse scoring again but my head says 1-1 draw.

I know a fair few won't agree but I think cabella from the bench might just work and meobi just picked over goufran although i'd say goufran prob more likely.

I'll admit I haven't been one of the best supporters in the last few games, mainly because I just can't stand us having pardew at the helm.

But last night and against hull, there seemed to be a bit of passion and fight in the team. Against stoke, the team have my full backing.

We've conceded 7 with Willo & Collo, time to give Saylor another chance considering he's only other senior CB.

Go back to basics, keep a clean sheet and try to deliver from wide as Riviere has shown he is good in the air. ALso the best Cabella has played is in the number 10 role.

Think the time has come for Ferreyra to have a chance, Riviere has looked unconvincing so far. Aarons must be given a chance, as along with Colback and Janmaat he has been our bets player so far, a real livewire against a more inexperienced Southampton team.

Wasn't expecting much, City had the quality to see us off, but we were good in the first half an hour or so and we gave it a really good go towards the end. We were very poor defensively though.

Ratings out of 10 of each player:

Krul - 7 - Didn't do much wrong tbh
Janmaat - 7 - Looked solid, good going forward as well
Williamson - 5 - Got dominated by dzeko, poor defending
Coloccini - 6 - was good playing the ball out of defence but wasn't that good defensively.
Dummett - 4 - Dunno why he got the nod over Haidara, he was very poor today.
Anita - 6 - Did well in the first half an hour, he just lacks that strength to be a DM.
Colback - 7 - Played well today, gave us that extra bit of grit in the midfield, has great work ethic but needs to work on his end product.
Sissoko - 7 - Lacked composure, was great going forward, he just needs to take his time and make the right decisions.
Gouffran - 7 - Similar to Colback, didn't really make an impact offensively.
Cabella - 9 - he was excellent, has great skill and also a hard worker, he's someone who can lift the fans off their seats.
Riviere - 7 - Showed great strength, pace and determination just he needs to be more composed.
Aarons - 7 - still very raw, needs time, but showed good energy.
Perez - 8 - He was fantastic when he came on, so nearly scored. he looks a very skilful player hope to see more of him.
Obertan - 7 - Put in a good shift but didn't have too much of an impact.

Overall I thought we looked a bit scared going forward, and defensively we looked very panicky and desperate. Riviere was quite isolated, but he looks decent. We just lacked that composure in the final third and also decision making wasn't good, there were a lot of times where players picked the ball up and didn't take their time, rushed it and could have passed to a better option.

It will be a major boost for us when M'Biwa, Tiote and SDJ come back for villa. I think SDJ will be a massive boost to the whole team, he's a very composed character and should be a major boost to the rest of the team.

I think Saylor and Willo need to be replaced, would prefer to see Dawson and Richards bought in and no striker bought in then to have a striker and no new defenders.
